"A musical tour of American big band favorites" featuring CNU Jazz Students, Alumni, and Faculty. Janet Roach, WVEC's Emmy award winning journalist, is the special guest conductor.
The CNU Jazz Ensemble will be performing chart topping swing numbers of the 1930s all the way through to some of today's modern jazz selections. There will be music by great jazz composers, including "Duke" Ellington, "Count" Basie, and Charles Mingus, along with pieces made famous by the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the fabulous jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald. After the concert, there will be a jam session where everyone is invited to sit-in and play, so make sure you bring your horn.
This fundraising event supports the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia and the Diversity Conference of the Virginia State Bar, through MDI, Inc, its 501(c)(3) foundation, as well as dedicated scholarship and program support for the new CNU Jazz Program.
I hope to see you there,
