Effective July 1, 2016, Section 8.01-15.2(D) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, provides:
Counsel appointed pursuant to the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act shall not be selected by the plaintiff or have any affiliation with the plaintiff. However, counsel for the plaintiff may provide a list of attorneys familiar with the provisions of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act upon the request of the court.
The Newport News Bar Association has received a letter from Judge Henderson-Stith advising that the Hampton General District Court will maintain a list of competent attorneys who are familiar with the provisions of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and who are willing to accept appointments pursuant to said Act. Any attorneys interested in being included on the roster of attorney available for appointments should notify the Hampton General District Court Clerk's Office.
